About Shana
Shana Lipner Grover, a clinical herbalist, health and nutrition educator, field botanist, ethical wildcrafter, medicine maker, and forever student of life and wonder, is the director and primary educator of Sage Country Herbs School of Botanical Studies in
north county San Diego.
Shana believes in the symbiotic nature of our ecology and trusts in the role we are each called to play. We are all a part of nature, but our fast-paced world builds both physical and symbolic barriers to connection. The easiest way to reconnect is by getting back into nature and learning from the abundance all around us.
Sage Country Herbs School of Botanical Studies, a hybrid online and field-based ecology, botany and plant medicine school with a two-year apprenticeship program, guides students through weaving the study of plants and diverse environments into the practice of making and using herbal medicine. Attuning to the distinct rhythms of our local environments, Sage Country Herb students embody a win, win, win relationship with nature where they heal themselves through healing the earth and create exponential possibilities of wellbeing for those around them. Through mountain hikes, plant walks, farm activities, and a bit of adventure, Shana reaffirms your innate relationship with nature so you can nurture your body and our home.
Having spent years learning to cook in professional kitchens and through decades of herbal apprenticeships and fieldwork, Shana runs a clinical practice in north county San Diego focusing on empowering people to take responsibility for their health and spreading the message that everyone can live a healthy life on a budget. Through outdoor education, she teaches at Art & Wilderness Institute, Solidarity Farm School, and Healing Hands School of Holistic Health, covering 350 hours of herbal medicine and nutrition programs. With bylines in Plant Healer Magazine and Herbaria, you can also find her teaching at a variety of herbal symposiums and conferences like the Traditions in Western Botanical Medicine Conference, TerraVita Herbal Symposium, and Oshala Farms Herb Camp, as well as higher learning institutions like Bastyr University and CSULA.
